Peace Philosophy Salon on Sunday September 9th

Peace Philosophy Salon: Seoul, Hiroshima/Nagasaki, Article 9, and much more!

I am back from the two-month stay in Japan. In July I visited Seoul, Korea, to attend the Wednesday demonstration in front of the Japanese Embassy by the victims of sex slavery during the war, and also to visit the House of Sharing, or Nanumu, where 9 former 'comfort women' live together.

From August 2nd to 12th, I attended the Peace Exchange Seminar by Ritsumeikan University (Kyoto) and American University (Washington D.C.) as an interpreter and instructor. It was the 13th year of this tour in which American and Japanese university students visit Hiroshima and Nagasaki together to learn the history around the first use of atomic bombs on the human race and their devastating human consequences, and the peace movements towards abolishing the nuclear arms from the face of this earth.

These were highlights of my trip and there are many other experiences, books and AV materials that I wanted to share with you. This is an informal meeting, so what format it will take, which language(s) we speak will depend on who will attend. Please do share your own summer experiences and bring thoughts and ideas for future activities for making our world peaceful and sustainable.
