A belated Happy New Year! For those who check this blog frequently, I apologize for not posting so frequently these days, and thank you for your patience. It will still take a few more weeks until I am settled in the new house and will have sold my old house. Our first event this year will be held on Saturday February 9th in Surrey, where I talk about my trip to Nanjing, China, last December. Email info@peacephilosophy.com if you are interested in attending.
On Friday, February 29th, VSA9, or Vancouver Save Article 9, will host its first fundraising event at Pink Pearl Restaurant with Jonathan Manthorpe, a Vancouver Sun coulmnist as guest speaker. One of the purposes of this event is to raise funds to send delegates to the World Article 9 Conference, to be held in Makuhari, Japan on May 4th and 5th, 2008. Peace Philosophy Centre is one of the partnering organizations. Again, email us if you are interested.
On Saturday, March 8th, Peace Philosophy Centre will present a peace education seminar by Misako Iwashita, a former history teacher from Japan. Time, place, and other details will be posted on this blog as soon as they are determined. I will probably go back to Japan late March for a family occasion, so this will be it for the first quarter of this year. I will focus more on establishing my centre at the new location in Vancouver than on organizing as many events as I did last year. The new centre will have a small event space, an office and a library, where we will hopefully start lending books some time this year.
We have a saying in Japanese:
January goes (Ichigatsu wa iku)
February escapes (Nigatsu wa nigeru)
March leaves (Sangatsu wa saru)
This says how fast the first three months of the year go by.
Until later,
Satoko
