Yumi Kikuchi is coming on a Peace visit to Vancouver. From her home - theCentre for Harmonic Living- where she and her husband grow most of what theyeat (rice and vegetables) organically, Yumi travels throughout Japan todeliver over 100 lectures on Peace and sustainability per year. She lefther job as a successful bond trader to promote the spirit of Japan's "PeaceConstitution" and search for more peaceful and sustainable living. In herjourney, she realized that peace can not be attained without sustainabilityand visa versa.
A Co-founder of the Global Peace Campaign, right after 9/11 Yumi started theGlobal Peace Campaign, placing full page advertisements in NY Times and LATimes with the message to Americans "War is not the way to tackleterrorism". She continues the campaign today with the website, newsletterand blog. Yumi worked to organize the Tokyo International Tribunal for WarCrimes in Afghanistan, which adjudicated the U.S. administration's use ofdepleted uranium (DU) weapons there as "crimes against humanity, genocideand omnicide."
Yumi is also a director the founder and chair of JUMP (Japan United forMinistries of Peace) and organizer of the 2007 International Department ofPeace Conference in Tokyo, the 3rd Global Summit for Ministries andDepartments of Peace held in 2007 Sep-Oct in Japan (conference in Chiba andEvents in Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Okinawa), inviting advocatesof Ministries and Departments of peace in their respective 21 countries on 5continents.
Yumi is a leading figure in the 9/11 Truth movement and organized Japan'sfirst 9/11 conference, 911 Truth International Conference in Tokyo, drawingover 650 people to hear experts and witnesses discuss the events andunanswered questions of that day.
Yumi has written and translated over 10 books including Addicted To War;Butterfly; What I've Learned About US Foreign Policy; Dennis Kucinich(published in Japan only) The Legacy of Luna and The New Pearl Harbor. Shealso produced the Japanese subtitled version of the video, 911: In PlaneSite, and was instrumental in recently getting a Japanese legislator toquestion cabinet ministers about 9/11 in Japan's national legislature.
Yumi is the mother of 4, specialized in water and natural birth, naturalhealing and natural child rearing.
